Jet skiing this morning

Rick and I took the jet ski out this morning; we were planning on 7, but it was closer to 8 or 8:30 before we hit the water. Beautiful morning, the water was still and hardly any other boats out, mostly fishermen. We went past Riviera, then Volente and continued on staying right. Weren't quite sure if that was the direction of the river or just inlets - it was inlets.

We came back at 10, by that time we saw 2-3 ski boats pulling skiers out, but the lake was still so quiet. It is a big lake. I drove a bit and it was fun, but I prefer being a passenger. I guess I'm not adventuresome when it comes to things like that, or perhaps I just don't trust my competency.

We passed a  Zipline Lake Travis boat that was anchored up; we both want to do that. Either by ourselves, with Chris and Alyona, or Jason, Justin, and Scott in Aug. Paige also really wanted to zipline, I guess that is an outing for her for another trip.

No pics, left my phone in the truck.

Romans 7:14-25 I feel these verses so deeply, they resonate within my soul

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin.

To buy or not to buy...

paddle boards? That is the question. I quickly got the answer when Rick and I went to Costco last night to buy them.

It all began with meeting Patsy yesterday morning at Round Rock Outlets to walk. It has a nice breeze flowing around it and Patsy walks there when it's otherwise quite hot, on the perimeter of the mall. We walked 3.58 miles; it was enjoyable.

I decided after to go to Costco. Just on the inside entrance I saw paddle boards for $99. A great price and debated buying them. We have 2 kayaks but thought others might have fun with them. Took a pic, discussed it later with Rick, Paige was on board (heard from no one else), drove over - Rick immediately noticed they were Jr paddle boards!! Will not work for adults. Saves me $200.
Still not sure how I missed that essential piece of info.

Lake Creek park

As we were driving along Lake Creek Paige saw a park that looked like fun and told me to remember where it was so we could take the ggrrls. Towards the end of the visit was an open time, so we packed them up, some water and goldfish, and arrived middle morning, 10ish so it wasn't too hot. The park looked quite new and had been situated under some huge, old live oak trees so even tho it was hot, lots of shade. We stayed a couple hours and the ggrrls had great fun.

Stella

Not sure why most of my pics are of Stella. Wish I had gotten more of the others also.

The ggrrls saw a mom and her 2 young kids make teepee style camp fires (no real fires) and so they made them also, and went on a "camping trip." They have such imaginations!!

As we were leaving, Hattie started crying about her arm hurting, was rubbing her eyes and made them hurt, and complained about the fire ants biting her. Paige comforted and reassured her. I had days earlier told Paige what the fire ant bites looked like. The next morning Paige said Hattie really had gotten 2 bites on her arm, she saw the pimple like bite. I know from experience they hurt!! It feels like a fire on the wound.

Finishing townhouse basement

Scott's new roommate, Arik, also had done construction and electrical work. He gave us a bid to finish the townhouse, and although higher than anticipated (and because Aaron, Paige's friend, never got back to us) we accepted and asked him to do the work.

He is already moving and grooving on it. Cleaned out the basement, discovered that it can have a bathroom and had Scott call us to see what we wanted to do. We decide against the bathroom (although it would be handy). I think we are going to be very happy with his work.

Sure do miss my little squirrels and daughter and son-in-law already.

Afternoon at the bounce house

The grrls had been looking forward to jumping on the trampoline in the mall since last year when they had so much fun on it. Went to the mall - gone. They only bring it out on Sat, or so we heard. We took them to the bounce house but I don't think they had as much fun.

Boating on Lake Travis

We went boating on the lake on Sat, so these posts are a little out of order. Oh, well.

Hot dog roast and s'mores

Last night we lighted charcoal briquettes and roasted hot dogs, then marshmallows and made s'mores. Chris and Alyona came over and joined the party. They brought Zoya, of course, and it's wonderful to see the ggrrls petting her and feeding her hot dogs as they get used to a dog. Zoya is the perfect dog for kids because of her personality.

We went to the HOA pool in the morning, 10:30-2. Perfect timing, we left just as it started to get busier. Almost no one there until 1. I need to remember and always go at that time.

Stonehenge

I have been wanting to take the ggrrls to walk around on these rocks since I saw them our first year in Texas; Sunday afternoon was the perfect time and we drove over to the neighborhood next to us they are located. Even tho the rocks are flat, they remind me of Stonehenge.

Annual ride on train to see Papaw

Now that it has occurred twice, we can call it an annual event. The train is clean and completely safe. Definitely a fun way to meet Papaw for lunch at work. I'm trying to catch up on my posts, we actually  did it on July 8.

Plane trip to Texas

It just worked out that I was able to fly with Paige to Texas on July 6, I took my first Uber. Scott set up the  app on my phone and told me how to do it.

No mishaps or delays, yay, and it was fun to fly with the ggrrls. They are such an age now that Paige didn't really need me. But she will have to fly home by herself; Cathie's mother passed and Kincade is leaving early for the funeral.

Park City hike with Scott

The mountains in Utah are incredible. Scott and I were in Park City a few days before I left; he needed to make the work schedule so we combined a hike plus his work. Went to a fun health food store and ate at a great Mexican place. I guess here in Texas we don't have Mexican restaurants - we have "Tex-Mex." Everything in Texas is always related to the greatness of Texas.

Little squirells in bed

Paige took this pic the other morning because they looked so sweet. All the ggrrls have been sleeping in the other bedroom - sure makes sleeping better for Nano and Papaw.
We were going to go to church last Sunday (at 8:30!!!) but Stella and Macy both woke up at 3am sick with fevers and just generally not feeling well. At 6am Paige came in to tell me she was going to run to the store and get meds for them. Rick went instead; of course, we didn't take them to church. Stella fevered and was sick until Tues. Macy is getting better but was still running a low grade fever and not feeling well last night. I hope she is finally well today.

Busy, busy, busy months of June and July

I have lots to blog but have been in Utah and now Paige is here in Austin, so I won't be blogging much. It does make me sad because this is the only journal/diary I'm keeping. But I will make up with pics and posts to come of my travels and visits.
