Memorial Day Picnic

Mon was our Ward's Memorial Day Picnic. The Relief Society was in charge, but we asked all of the organizations to bring something different, whether it was desserts, chips, or, in case of everyone else, a dish to share. The High Priests, of which Rick is the group leader, were in charge of getting grills there, and then grilling, along with bringing all the condiments necessary, such as lettuce, tomatoes, pickles. Rick was trying to decide how to get our grill over there, since we don't have a pickup or trailer. He ended up buying a trailer hitch rack to transport the bbq grill. He spent 45 min attaching it on Mon morning, and then off we went to the picnic. At the picnic, the other man with his grill didn't bring a flipper, so Rick cooked all the hamburgers and hotdogs - 2 hours of standing over the smokey grills. Actually, he did get several men who came over and offered to relieve him, which was quite nice.

Chris went over early to play in the softball game, which is a big ward tradition. He sure does work and play well with others, making many new friends!!#%???&&##
Unfortunately the cute girl he met at the picnic is waaaaaay too young.

The picnic was a great success, but then this is one of the ward's traditions that people love and old ward members return to attend.

Washington Crossing the Delaware

This location is 6 miles from New Hope and Rick and I had been wanting to visit it. We drove to New Hope on Fri after picking up Chris from the airport. We walked around in New Hope and Lambertville, NJ (just across the Delaware River), had lunch, then drove over to the hysterical site, as we used to say when I was growing up. These things are nice to see, but always seem kind of flat or disappointing to me. Not sure what I'm expecting....

Chris and Claire Bonding

When someone new comes Claire follows them around trying to get attention. Chris came for Memorial Day weekend, so of course Claire follows him, lays on his shoes, and just in all ways makes a nuisance of herself. She was lying in a weird position, so Chris decided to lay the pillow on top of her. She just laid there with the pillow on top of her, blinking her eyes.

Back Home Again

I flew back to Philly from Utah last Tues. My plane kept getting delayed; my original arrival time was 11:30 pm - my new arrival time was 1:00 am. We arrived home at 2 am - a loverly time to be getting home. Then neither Rick nor I could get to sleep. We lay there asking each other, "Are you asleep yet?" "No." "Me neither," until 3:30 or so.

Sunday was Ward Conf, we both had leadership meeting at 7:30 am, which went until 8:50, and then Sac Mtg started at 9. After church we both had visits to do with less active people with Stake people, so I got home at 3:30. But it was nice because I met an older homebound sister that I did not know - she is a delightful person and I enjoy getting to know the sisters whom I don't know except as a name on paper.

Sat we had bought a bunch of plants for around the townhouse, and yesterday and this morning I planted. And now we have no more space for anything.

But as much as I enjoyed being in St George and taking care of mom, it is NICE to be home. I notice that when I'm home I don't walk as much as I do in St George. In St George I take a 1 to 1 1/2 hour walk every morning, then a 1/2 walk every evening. All this helped me to lose 7 pounds. Need to find the motivation to walk as much, but it's so much funner (I know that's not a word, but I like it better than "more fun") to walk around the temple and area around it and mom's townhouse.

4 Generations with Grandmother Deeny

Paige and family came to St George last weekend to visit Grandmother. We took some 4 generation pics with grandmother, plus some misc. I really regret not getting pics with Jason and Chris, when they were here.
