Wonderful Easter at church

Easter Spring DayInspiring talks on the life of Jesus, the Atonement, and His love for us today at church. Great to be there and partake of those messages. In one of my last posts I said that being outdoors in nature rejuvenates my soul. But the first thing that rejuvenates my soul is being at church and worshiping the Lord.

Pretty walk

Sheri, the next door neighbor, took me on a very pretty walk. I can just walk out my door, down the hill, onto the golf course path, and it takes me back to a little creek (little, this is Texas, remember, little water!), with trees, yuccas, and all types of plants. In total it is a little over 3 miles. Being outdoors rejuvenates my soul, so this is one I will do often. Next time I will take pics and post them.

Since I'm no longer in Danville and have Blanton Woods, this must be the next best thing.

Bad hair

Well, it had to happen. I got my hair done about 2 weeks before I left Philly, and when I got here I asked and got the name of 2 supposed to be really good stylists. I kept putting off setting up an appointment, so when my hair was finally driving me crazy, the soonest I could get in was 2 weeks away, and then the other was April 2. I went to a 3rd one on Tues - and she gave me bad hair. Too dark, even tho we talked about it for 10 min. Cut is bad, even tho I showed her pics.

I'm not as upset as I would have been, simply because the ringing/dizziness in my ears/head has taught me to truly not be as upset about the stuff that simply doesn't matter. My hair will grow, and when I'm in Utah in May, which will be in 6 weeks or so, I can go see Kirby and he can give me good hair again.

A little blessing - a sister in the ward just came over to pick up some things, and we talked for about 45 min. She is a very kind, understanding, and compassionate person, and just what I needed. I have to remember to give the Lord thanks for all the people/things He does send me.

This picture hung in my parents house all the time I was growing up, and stayed there until my dad died and my mom moved to St George, and then at some time she gave it to me. I got it because the Silver Certificate dollar in the corner is mine. My grandpa put a dollar in the corner of this pic for all of his grandkids (my dad's kids, that is), and if we went to 1st grade without missing a day of school, the dollar was that gkid's.

I went to 1st grade without missing a day, and when I came home I was quite excited to take out my dollar. My dad talked me into leaving it there, saying when I took it out I would spend it and it would be gone. So the dollar stayed put (I guess Eric and Kristi didn't get a dollar put in the picture for them?) It is a Silver Certificate, and at some point those were all called in, so it's not even legal tender anymore, but worth more than a dollar to a collector. Unfortunately, the dollar is stuck to the picture and can't be taken out at now without destroying it and the pic. I really wouldn't want to anyway.

This brings back so many memories.

Musical beds

Paige got two of Aunt Jane's twin bed frames. She had both painted white and distressed, then bought a new mattress and set one up in Stella's room as her big girl bed. The toddler's bed from Stella's room (crib mattress on a frame) will go into Macy's room, and the new baby will get the crib.

Longhorns in Texas

These are just outside our church building. I sure wouldn't want to meet the pointy end of that horn.

The little scholar

Stella loves to draw pics, write, color, and do her reading exercises. She will be all set for Kindergarten in the Fall.

Time in Texas

Relaxing after a hard day of eating Torchy's Tacos, or it might have been Rudy's BBQ. Doesn't make up for YumYum Donuts, in Paige's opinion, or searching out delicious sandwiches or cookies at Reading Terminal Market, in Jason's, but since they consider themselves gourmands, or true epicures,  I think these 2 places help with the transition.

I also need to mention that Jason went with me for moral support for the MRI. He told me he would tell the technician, if I started have hysterics, Don't worry, she screams like that all the time.

Tempting, but toooo cold

The little girls wanted to dip their feet in the pool all the time, but it was really too cold. They had fun anyway. But the pics tell the story of just how cold the water was.
