Thanksgiving 2009

Jason, Chris, and Scott were here for Thanksgiving. We had a great time. Chris and Scott had a little bit of an ordeal trying to leave. Their flight had been changed to 6 am today, but the email went to Chris' spam account, so they didn't know until they got to the airport. Luckily, with Rick pulling some strings (since he flies on United so much) they were able to leave. I always am so sad when the kids leave; I spent all afternoon trying not to cry. We'll all be together for Christmas!

Food safety

I just finished reading two articles on tainted foods, hamburger and leafy greens (spinach). I'm a carnivore - I love hamburgers! Also, I'm cheap so I buy less expensive meat. A 22 yr-old woman ended up paralyzed from the waist down, her kidney's still might shut down, other health problems. It makes me want to buy steak and have them grind it into ground beef right there.

Done

I finished the 3rd grade class on Sept 25. I enjoyed teaching it so much. By the end, I felt as if it were really my class and I was so sad to give it up. Jason came in on Thurs, Sept 24. They went to the ocean while I was teaching on Friday. Saturday we did things, and then picked up Paige, Kincade, and Stella from the airport. It was fun having them here together. Around 5 on Sunday, we took Jason to the airport. Paige stayed until the next Sat, Oct 3.

Today, everyone is gone, Monday morning starts. Back to the real world; playtime is over. But, I get to leave on Oct 13 for Utah. Scott has a lot of activities planned. I will also be in St George to spend time with my mom.

I just tried to upload pictures. It wouldn't work. What is wrong?

Winding down

The last 2 weeks! I will miss this job. I could take it and do it for the rest of the year. I do wish I had gone into el ed, but this week we have been doing poetry, which I love. It reminds me why I went into sec ed. I love the subject.

Next trip

I have bought my next plane ticket to Utah. But, before that, we get Paige, Kincade, Stella, and Jason, all coming to visit. They start coming on Sept 24 and leave on Oct 4. Then on Oct 13 I go to Utah and stay until Thanksgiving! No, not really, but I will stay 3-4 weeks. I want to spend at least 1 week in St. George with my mom.

First, I have to survive this class.

Tir-red

I finished my first week of school. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it. At times I feel overwhelmed and overloaded. If I had originally gotten my degree in elementary ed, I would be teaching full time right now, I enjoy it that much. This class seems to be a particularly nice one.

Preparing

I spent 1/2 of Mon and all of today, Tues, preparing for the class I will be teaching. Still lots to do. And I worked on stuff off and on the last month. It is actually fun to do. I wish I had gotten my degree in elementary ed; I think I would have enjoyed it more.

Teaching

Yesterday I subbed for the teacher I did the maternity leave for back in Jan and Feb. She has asked me before to sub when she will be gone. I enjoy going to her classroom; orderly and well-organized. Plus, I just like the interaction with the kids. She does 3rd grade and that's a fun age. I'm looking forward to doing the next maternity leave, which begins July 27, with that same 3rd grade team. Holly Springs is my fav school, that's a great age, and the team are so helpful.

Garden

The deer and/or the bunny rabbits are eating our garden. They have eaten all the leaves off our cucumbers, and some of the cukes themselves. They have eaten leaves from the zucchini plants and zucchinis. Now they are eating our almost ripe tomatoes. We had chicken wire around the cukes, but the plants got too big. Not sure what to do now; we do wish they would leave us some of the garden to eat ourselves!

So sad

Paige, Stella, and Scott left yesterday. They were here for 1 week and we had a great time; unfortunately, I'm always sad when people leave.
I have pics to put up but for some reason, my pics won't upload. I wish someone could solve this for me.

These are some of my 4th of July decorations

Not really. These are Paige's that she sent me and I thought it would be funny for her to see me calling her decos as mine.

Chris and friends

Jason and Chris went to Europe in May; they were in Liverpool and London at the same time Rick was. Jason stayed 10 days and went back to Indy. Chris then went on to Ukraine to see people he had known from his mission. Were these his friends?

I have been trying to attach a pic of Chris and some animals for 3 days. It will not work. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to get pics to show on my blog?

Grandmother Hill's 80th Birthday Party

My mom turned 80 on Feb 21. We had a huge party for her in St. George; almost everyone attended, even Jeramy who was in Iraq got home in time to attend. Only 4 people were absent, which is pretty good since mom has 6 kids plus spouses, 23 grandkids plus spouses, and 17 greats no spouses.

How's this picture? It's also from Christmas 2008 in Indianapolis.

Fun to blog

I'm actually having fun blogging and posting my blogs. But, I'm having a hard time with new pics and news, so I decided to find some fun pics from my last trip to Eagle Mt (city Paige lives in, by Provo) and post those. This is Paige and Stella on a Sunday morning; they both went to the Nursery today! Paige to sub and Stella because it's almost time and she's bored walking the halls with mom/dad and is even more bored sitting in RS/Priesthood.

Alpine Loop in Provo/American Fork Canyons

I love hiking and walking in nature. This is beautiful - one of my fav places in Utah; my sister, Kristi, and I drove up here my last trip. Cascade Springs has a board walk with a little creek, springs, etc. I hope heaven has places like this.

The Owens Men

This is a picture taken at Christmas in Indianapolis 2008.

G'paO and Stella

They are both adorable.

First blog

I love to read the blogs of my family and friends, so I decided to create my own blog. It will be good for my brain cells; plus, if I blog regularly, will be kind of like a journal.
